Losing Myself

Ever so gently, the starlight
From amidst the clouds has befallen,
Upon my skin, blazing
Seeped into my blood, forgotten

And it led me to the tranquil layers
Of miseries long forgotten,
Thought beautiful by those of us
Who by the pain had grown rotten

And in those very layers
I found fragments of my identity,
Like a mosaic built by God
Hidden rather carefully

And in finding myself
I lost my sanity
But how do we define sane
When we never knew the reality

And so submerged in those layers
I close my eyes to this world
Tug at the string to reality
And float eternally onwards.
