Widespread Misandry on the Internet

“Men have sacrificed and crippled themselves physically and emotionally to feed, house, and protect women and children. None of their pain or achievement is registered in feminist rhetoric, which portrays men as oppressive and callous exploiters.” ― Camille Paglia

In today’s aggression of society and widespread knowledge, one often thinks about how females have been oppressed, rather openly, online. For centuries, we all can agree, females’ fate was written by man, and they were resigned to it. However, in the last century or so, females have found their voice, and are now matching men step for step, a rather remarkable achievement, but nothing that should be out of the ordinary. But, now, the tables have turned on man. Rather than society be a mutualistic relationship between all genders, males’ development has faltered.

Firstly, a lot of people stand by and overly repeat the statement, “All Men are Trash”. Not only is this rude and offensive, it goes against the very rhetoric of equality, grossly categorising all men, including those breaking their backs for you, into something whose visage invokes vomit. When asked to talk about the meaning of this statement, the person conveniently quotes, “one bad apple spoils the whole barrel”. In our childhood days, when one person in the class did something offensive to a teacher, the entire class’ games period was cut out, and all others, including you and me, were left fuming. Isn’t this the same injustice? If you say “all men are trash” yet love your father, your brother dearly, why the misandry?

Furthermore, the support to a woman who claims to have been harassed is overwhelming, even if not a word of it was the truth. Take, for example, the 17 year old Manav who ended his life following fake allegations of rape and physical assault. Although I believe that rapists must have the cruellest of deaths afforded by law, an allegation is worse. Baseless, and without a strand of proof, the accused’s entire life is put under scrutiny by the world, and his name is tainted forever. In fact, not even media channels know the accuser’s name in the Manav case, which just highlights the misandry of the world. If you know of women threatening men with fake assault cases, and haven’t come forward with it, why the misandry?

Moving forward, a lot many people that I know of have also said that the Bro Code, and it’s entire ideology is Patriarchal, and misogynistic. In fact, they cite the example of the “Bois Locker Room” case earlier this year to prove their point. Although that chat group was patriarchal, calling the bro code patriarchal would be calling out an automotive company and asking them to shut down simply because your brake failed. For me, and for more than enough male youths around the world, the bro code is simply a support group that knows everything in your life. My support group includes both girls and boys, whom I care for deeply and profoundly. However, there are girl chat groups or rooms, with similar motives. Some of them, worse than the “Bois Locker Room”. People are just too scared of societal pressure to ensure that this sees the light of day. If you know that these chat groups exist, like I do, and haven’t yet spoken up, why the misandry?

Furthermore, a lot of fingers have been pointed at Bollywood, and it’s objectification of women, particularly in racy clothes. But if you tell me that you have watched movies, and never once drooled over a particularly handsome hunk’s bared eight-pack abs, who are you kidding? This hate is primarily directed toward producers or directors, who generally are male, but don’t male actor’s also bare their bodies, for the sake of entertainment?

Baseline, if you lawyer for equality, make sure that you promote it in real life as well. By just changing your profile picture, and making online warrior comments, nothing changes. And equality isn’t about women stepping on men to rise up, it is all the genders holding hands and taking humanity to greater levels.
